Barge Board

The Barge Boards

uPVC Barge Boards are manufactured using the Celuka process. This allows the product to be made with a Solid Outer Skin with a Cellular Core in one process. The surface strength is important and this process allows the outer skin to compare in rigidity to a co-extrusion process. Both inner foam and outer skin combine to give a tough, durable finish that will stand the test of time and the damaging UV rays of the sun.

Advantages of the system

  • Low cost - No countersink drilling, planing, sanding, priming, undercoating or painting needed.
  • Lightweight with good rigidity and durability.
  • UV Stabalised for up to 10 years.
  • Fire Proof and Flame Retardant (Self-extinguishing)
  • Environmentally Friendly (Green) 100% Recyclable.
  • Water Resistant
  • Trouble Free Installation - The unique uPVC structure behaves just like a timer. It can be cut, screwed and nailed with standard woodworking equipment. Its lightweight, tough and robust.
  • No Maintenance - The uPVC foam and outer skin cannot rot and is easily cleaned with soapy water.
  • Dimensional stability - In general the linear thermal movement of uPVC foam profiles is controlled within the cellular profile design and by the method of fixing.
  • Strength - Gutter brackets can be mounted directly onto the uPVC fascia. It is advisable to spread the gutter load wherever possible by securing gutter brackets directly through the fascia onto the rafter timbers.

Fixing Instructions

  • Ensure that the fixing surface is absolutely straight and true. Uneven rafters will result in an undulating finish on the fascia or barge.
  • Use a fine-tooth saw when cutting uPVC profiles.
  • Secure the facia or barge board to roof timbers using brass screws. Maximum support centres 800mm. A plastic cover cap is supplied with the screws. Apply a drop of adhesive to the back of the cap and press into position.
